The Dragon of Two Hearts

Answering a call of distress, the knight Michael finds the king of Gladur Nock surprisingly uninterested in removing the shadow of fear the marauding dragon, Scorch, casts over his land.  Then he meets the princess, Aina, a warrior maiden who imprisons men and then trains them to do battle against the dragon.  He is puzzled whether either is worth aligning himself with.  And he is not fool enough to overlook that he stands little chance against Scorch, a ruthless, violent and remorseless dragon.  What good has all his training with a Luck Dragon been to prepare him for this moment?  But Aina is more than what she at first seems, and Michael finds allies in unexpected places.  There remains hope until faced with the reality that a knight can have no hope of ever defeating a dragon.  But there his training with Star leaves one glimmer of courage that even though he cannot defeat a dragon, if luck were with him, he could tame it.

Donald Samson Donald Samson grew up in the mega-urban environment of Los Angeles at a time when the smog was thick and the freeways were flinging their tentacles throughout the city.   After expanding his horizons through study at UC Santa Barbara, he sought fresh air and adventure.  He set off for a dozen years of travel, living as an expat first in Greece, then for a long stretch in Germany, and finally landing in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. Upon returning to the States, he learned the art of teaching children, and was a Waldorf class teacher for nineteen years. It was during this time that he developed his love for storytelling. His first books owe their origin to stories he told to one of his classes. It was his students' persistent requests (badgering, really) to read the stories he had told that led him to write them down.  He currently lives in western Colorado working as the educational director of a public charter Waldorf school.
