Creatura

Seventeen-year-old Isis can control her dreams. Or she could--until recently. Her rule over her subconscious ended the day an uninvited and hostile presence made itself known in her nightmares. As if being dumped wasn't bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. Isis decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he's not a monster... and he's not a dream. David tells Isis he’s as real as she is, but she, unwilling to believe him, dares him to prove his existence.

When David steps out of her dreams and into her high school, she thinks she’s lost her mind. To mollify her, David reveals his identity and tells her he’s the god of dreams. He also explains how, while she slept, she was crossing into another dimension—Terra Somnium, the land of dreams. But what David doesn’t tell her is his underlying motive for being on Earth. After having watched Isis in Terra Somnium for a year, David has fallen in love with her. But he knows their relationship is forbidden, a consequence of the war between humans, deities, and the terrifying offspring of mortals and gods known as Creatura. Once Isis learns about this, she firmly insists they follow the rules of the gods.

However, David, determined to woo Isis, gives her the Star Crest emblem that carries his immortality and will enable him to become human, like Isis, so they can be together.

When David’s father learns what his son has done, he’s furious and uses his powers to look into Isis, where he discovers she’s not human at all, but Creatura in human form, on the onset of transformation. Because David presented Isis with the Star Crest, he will become Creatura, too.

Another problem arises when Gabriel, Isis’ jealous ex-boyfriend, and David cross paths. Each boy is determined to win Isis’ heart.

A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery, and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.

Who would've known... that love is sometimes lethal?
