Boston, Spirit of Place

Cape Ann to Cape Cod

This new title is presently in production and is scheduled for an October 2014 release.  Sample spreads can be viewed on my website; magiclightphoto.ca. New spreads will be added every few weeks as the design process evolves.

The history of Boston plays a central role in the American story. In 1630, Puritan colonists from England founded the town, which quickly became the political, commercial, financial, religious and educational center of the New England region.

Here is Boston as you have never seen her before. You will be present at her birth in the wilderness and from the comfort of your favourite chair, witness her growth through almost four centuries – an intimate portrait of many of the places and events that define the city, her businesses, culture, recreation, architecture, parks and people evolving from virgin forest to thriving city.

John McQuarrie

John McQuarrie is an Ottawa-based author and photographer whose major clients have included Coors, Marlboro, McDonnell-Douglas and Lockheed. But his real passion is producing coffee table books. His earlier works focused on the Canadian Air Force from the Second World War to the Gulf War and the Canadian Armed Forces in their role as Peacekeepers. John then turned his camera onto the cattle business and working cowboys. And he is quick to point out that his unfulfilled childhood dream of becoming either a cowboy or a fighter pilot has, in later life, finally been realized vicariously through the lens of his camera.
