Real Charlotte, The

Francie, a young, coquettish, vain and strikingly beautiful orphan, is transplanted from her working-class Dublin home to the small country town of Lismoyle to live with her older cousin, Charlotte. Socially ambitious, Charlotte schemes to bring about a marriage between Francie and Christopher Dysart, the heir to the local estate. But Charlotte's plans begin to go tragically awry, revealing the depths of her own terrible nature.

SOMERVILLE Edith Anna OEnone Somerville was an Irish novelist who habitually signed herself as E.OE. Somerville. She wrote in collaboration with her cousin Martin Ross (Violet Martin) under the pseudonym, 'Somerville and Ross'. By the time Violet died in 1915, they had published fourteen books together.
