John W. Nell of San Antonio, Texas

John W. Nell was born in Marshfield, Missouri on December 23, 1887.  He died in 1955.  September , fall of 1917 he received a letter from the WAR DEPARTMENT while working his ranch outside of Lamar, Colorado, drafting him into World War I.  He served from fall of 1917 to discharge January 1919.  He recorded his venture in the service to his country, going to France and ending up in the Lost Battalion and surviving.  This is truly a private’s story, day by day in the trenches.  This book was taken from his memoirs and re-written by his son C.W. Nell and Ron Lammert of Historical Publishing Network.  C. W. Nell died before the finished book was published by Historical Publishing Network.
