Meandering

Notes of a Mississippi Riverlorian
Meandering is a combination of journeys Mike has taken in the car, on a variety of boats, on a bike and on foot to discover the variations and stories of the Mississippi. As the backbone of the continent, draining thirty-one states and two provinces between the Rockies and the Appalachians, the Mississippi collects both the waters and the stories of North America. Now as a paddlewheel Riverlorian, Mike travels the river sharing these stories, and this book collects both the adventures and the stories so the reader can understand both the Great River and the diversity it represents.

Mike Link of Willow River, MN Mike Link retired as the founding director of the Audubon Center of the North Woods, has authored twenty-eight books, and continues to be a trip guide for Off the Beaten Path and Road Scholar trips, a riverlorian on paddlewheel trips, and a graduate instructor for Hamline University. Mike and his wife Kate Crowley became the only couple to walk around Lake Superior in 2010 and continue to give keynote talks about this and other adventures. With five grandchildren and family and friends, Mike and Kate enjoy sharing their love of nature and their concerns about freshwater.
